Shell chief executive Wael Sawan said improved signals from Ottawa and the British Columbia government over liquefied natural gas projects have boosted the odds of a green light for an expansion at LNG Canada.壳牌首席执行官瓦埃尔・萨万（Wael Sawan）表示，加拿大联邦政府与不列颠哥伦比亚省（BC 省）政府在液化天然气（LNG）项目上释放的积极信号增多，提升了加拿大 LNG 项目扩建获批的可能性。
“We’ve been growing in confidence in the posture that the Canadian government has been taking,” Sawan said on a conference call Tuesday, when asked about the possibility of an expansion of the Shell-led LNG project in Kitimat, B.C.周二，萨万在电话会议中被问及由壳牌主导、位于 BC 省基蒂马特（Kitimat）的 LNG 项目扩建可能性时称：“我们对加拿大政府的态度信心日益增强。”

The London-headquartered energy giant holds a 40% stake in LNG Canada, the country’s first major LNG export facility with direct Pacific access. It started production in June 2024 and is ramping up to 14 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).这家总部位于伦敦的能源巨头持有加拿大 LNG 项目40% 股份。该项目是加拿大首个直通太平洋的大型 LNG 出口设施，于 2024 年 6 月投产，设计年产能达1400 万吨。
A decision on Phase 2 (expansion) is expected later this year, which would double the capacity to 28 mtpa.项目二期（扩建）决策预计于今年晚些时候敲定，扩建后年产能将翻倍至2800 万吨。
“Many of our customers are looking for diversified supplies, and Canada is top of their list,” Sawan added, noting Asian buyers are increasingly turning to Canada amid global supply disruptions.萨万补充道：“众多客户寻求供应多元化，加拿大是首选地。” 他指出，受全球供应中断影响，亚洲买家正越来越多地转向加拿大采购 LNG。
